What is gut flora imbalance?

After birth, approximately 1000 species of gut bacteria colonize our gut. Usually these gut bacteria live together in balance which is extremely beneficial to your health⁸. However, the composition of the gut flora changes over time and may result in an imbalance in the gut. Your doctor may refer to this condition as dysbiosis, or gut flora imbalance.

What causes dysbiosis?

The balance of the gut flora can be affected by several factors including the use of antibiotics, illness, stress, aging, bad dietary habits, and lifestyle⁴⁹.
It is important to know if you have gut flora imbalance  because it  cause many chronic diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease, obesity, chronic diarrhea⁴⁹.

What are the symptoms of dysbiosis?

You may experience any of the following symptoms  of dysbiosis⁵⁰.
